Principal's Message
At Village Oaks High School, we strive to provide alternatives for students in grades ten through twelve, who are trying to meet requirements for a high school diploma. Our students have the benefit of being in classes that are smaller than the average class at a traditional high school and have immediate access to resources, such as counseling, assistance with assignments, or opportunities for credit recovery. When you walk the campus at Village Oaks, you are able to quickly observe how the staff knows each student and works diligently to engage with each student.
The advantages students receive for attending Village Oaks include the following:
-
Individualized attention
-
Consistent and ongoing counseling, mentorship, and outreach services
-
Credit recovery starting in 10th grade
-
Athletics, activities, and student government for all interested students
-
All seniors develop a post-graduate plan
Our goals for all of our students are not only to earn a high school diploma but also to begin planning for life after high school. We strive to make connections to students’ interests in colleges and careers. Students have the opportunity to enroll in classes at Delta College. The counselors hold regular meetings with every student to discuss their options after high school and also meet with students whenever needed to assist them with applying for jobs, colleges, or training programs. Access to regular and ongoing counseling for academics, as well as social emotional health, sets our school apart from traditional high schools.
We are The Village, one diverse group working together toward the common goal of developing skills for adulthood and at the same time creating safe spaces for individuality. We are The Vikings who are determined in our pursuits toward success.
We look forward to a great year with The Village Oaks’ Vikings!
